After being in the area for a bit...compared to other planet fitnesses, I am underwhelmed by the customer service here. The customer service here shows that the "gymtimidation" motto of Planet Fitness isn't true. I honestly chose Planet Fitness because of 2 things: the motto and the membership value. I chose this gym brand, because I've had experience with feeling uncomfortable at the gym due to people approaching me uncomfortably, treating my time on machines as less valuable, etc
The club's two membership levels are $10 and $21.99 per month: the $10 per month level includes access to cardio and strength equipment, unlimited group fitness instruction and pizza and bagels once a month; the $21.99 per month (“Black Card”) level allows members to bring one guest per day at no charge, access to all Planet Fitness locations, and access to extra amenities, such as tanning booths, massage chairs, red light therapy and water massage beds.
I've noticed a lot more of their machines seem to be breaking down. Now, it is expected since x amount of people use the machine every day, but some of them seem to be out of order for months on end. Even their TVs and their water fountain have been breaking down. I think it's going on 2 months since they removed the TV and it hasn't been replaced yet.
I really like working out there. The trainers are very helpful. The best thing is that it doesn't ha...ve the locker room smell that turns me off from working out. I like being able to go when I have the time and not when the gym has the time. I'm shy about working out in front of people and at Anytime I can go when there is very few people there. See More
Anytime Fitness is a 24-hour health and fitness club headquartered in Woodbury, Minnesota. The company operates over 4,000 franchised locations in 50 countries. The gym facilities are open 24 hours a day, 365 days out of the year. Chuck Runyon, Dave Mortensen, and Jeff Klinger founded Anytime Fitness in 2002. Runyon is the CEO of the company. According to Forbes, Anytime Fitness was the fastest growing health club franchise in 2014. In 2015, Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Anytime Fitness first on its global franchise list.
The first franchise location opened in Cambridge, Minnesota later that year. They chose the site because of the lack of other fitness clubs in the immediate area and a population large enough to support a fitness club. Shortly after, two more locations were opened by former Southview Athletic Club employees in Duluth and Albert Lea, Minnesota. Runyon, Mortensen and Klinger sold 29 franchises before they opened their own corporate-owned location in Bemidji, Minnesota.
